Celebrating Black History Month

February 18, 2025

Dear Chamber Members,

As we honor Black History Month, we reflect on the profound impact that Black individuals and communities have had on shaping our nation's history, culture, and progress. This month provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the rich legacies and achievements of Black entrepreneurs, professionals, and innovators in our own community.

In that spirit, we are proud to highlight three outstanding Black-owned businesses in our membership:

  • Q1227 Restaurant: Chef Q & Tamara Bennett – Offering exceptional cuisine with a local touch, Q1227 continues to delight patrons and build lasting connections.
  • Pure Heart Staffing: Damon Pridgeon – Providing compassionate staffing solutions, Pure Heart is dedicated to helping businesses thrive through professional and reliable service.
  • Lush Balloons: Sean Brown – Creating stunning balloon arrangements for all occasions, Lush Balloons adds a pop of color and creativity to every event.

Click on each business to learn more about their leadership!

Additionally, we’re excited to introduce a new self-reporting tool available on Members' Info-Hub portal. This tool allows minority-owned businesses to voluntarily self-identify and share important details about their businesses. Collecting this data will help us discover more minority-owned businesses to highlight and support throughout the year. Check out the picture below to see where you can update this information in your portal!

Why is this initiative important? Fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within our local economy is essential for its success. By showcasing businesses from diverse backgrounds, we strengthen our community and ensure that people from all walks of life have the opportunity to thrive.

Thank you for your continued support in helping create a more vibrant and inclusive local economy. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Warm regards,

Rana Ghadban
